Webinar Summary

Come join us for a free introductory online class on the Indian classical dance Bharatanatyam on 24th September, Saturday at 12:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada).

This class is taught by a reputed Bharatanatyam dancer, Ms. Saniya Godbole.

Saniya has a Master’s degree in Fine Arts – Bharatanatyam from SASTRA University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India.

Class content:

1. We’ll talk about the form ‘Bharatanatyam’ and give a brief introduction about the learning process.

2. We’ll do a few warm up exercises.

3. Everyone will learn the basic dance positions of Bharatanatyam along with one step from the first two sets of movements.

4. Introduction to Asamyukta hastas i.e. the basic single hand gestures which build the gestural language of Bharatanatyam.
